True, although the girl at the olympics was there also to appeal to a non-chinese audience. But in truth I don't really know to which audience that particular decision was pandering.

My feeling is that this is tradional for China - raised from birth for perfection in their expertise under a strict Communist Regieme. Remember the little girl at the opening of the Olympics who was not pretty enough? Beautifully performed, but still some sadness...But this a start:-)
