They are typicly south American, I havent seen them anywhere else.

I'm guessing that even if you cant see the hole you could feel the maggot wriggling in the wound. Thanks for your help.

It looks like a simple mosquito bite but turn into a hole that looks infected and has a wriggly maggot.
