Hello Mr. Vector this might seem very strange to you but I'm writing to you from Nicaragua (Central America) I have been a car enthusiast since the 80's and remember the Vector for it's looks and engenering, thank you for sharing your car, congratulations for being part of the automobile history... if someday you come to Nicaragua please tell me, I'll be glad to show you my beautiful country.

My Alltime FAVORITE Car... 20 years later it is still as fast as most of the current excotics.. except the Veyron of course but the new Vector should be on target for that.

Just like every other supercar made today. Ahead of its time by 15 years, all current supercars use an automatic, Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Reventon, Ferrari Enzo...etc. They all use paddle shifters that are esentially automatics. The Vector uses a ratchet shifter which is a paddle shifter only a single lever tap up to down shift pull back to upshift.

It is a ratchet shifter, the transmission is all custom for the Vector. The housing is the only item barrowed from GM, but all of the internals are specific for the W8. Custom planitary gears, clutch packs, input and output shafts, Valve body, Torque converter, drive chain etc.... All custom done for the W8.

When the engine was designed it was intended to be capable of 1200 hp so the owner could turn up the boost on the dash if 110 octane fuel was utilized. But detuned to run on 92 octane. Each car puts out more than 625hp from the factory some engines were a little stronger than others due to internal build tolerances. I was just lucky that my car is on the upper end for factory stock HP.
